Congratulations to 40+ Pilates community member Margaret Juhae Lee who recently published her book Starry Field: A Memoir of Lost History, which was 20 years in the making!

From Margaret’s website:
“As a young girl growing up in Houston, Margaret Juhae Lee never heard about her grandfather, Lee Chul Ha. His history was lost in early twentieth-century Korea, and guarded by Margaret’s grandmother, who Chul Ha left widowed in 1936 with two young sons. To his surviving family, Lee Chul Ha was a criminal, and his granddaughter was determined to figure out why.”

Using her skills as a journalist, Margaret tenaciously tracked down documents, coaxed stories from her grandmother, and pieced together her family’s unspoken history.  It’s a beautiful, thought-provoking book – we hope you’ll add it to your summer reading list!

Margaret was kind enough to sit down and chat about what it’s like to finally have her work out in the world, the value of uncovering your family history, her writing practice, and (of course!) how Pilates keeps her going through it all.
